    Summer school will be held from June 19th - July 28th at Greenfield High School (no school July 3rd or 4th).

    Limited credit recovery and accelerated courses will be offered.

    *Registration for credit recovery courses opens on April 24th.

Summer Learning Program

Elementary Program Dates (Grades K-6): Tuesday, June 27th – Friday, July 28th

K5 Program Located at Maple Grove Elementary School                                                                                                                         8:00-12:00

Kindergarten is an exciting time of exploration and learning! This program is designed to prepare students for the K5 classroom experience in the fall. Students will participate in activities that promote literacy, math, science and social studies concepts. Students will engage in hands-on activities through a thematic approach focused on friendship and working together. The K5 program is open to Greenfield resident and current Open Enrollment students registered to attend K5 in the fall of 2017.  

 

1st through 6th Grade Program Located at Maple Grove Elementary School                                                                                            8:00-12:00

Learning and fun all in one! Students will engage in reading, writing and math through a thematic, integrated approach. Students will participate in hands-on learning through games, centers, inquiry, research and projects. All students will participate in reading, writing and math workshop daily to develop and refine their literacy and numeracy skills. Students needing additional skill development in reading or math will receive targeted interventions in a small group setting. This program is open to Greenfield resident and current Open Enrollment students registered to attend grades 1-6 in the fall of 2017.

Elementary Summer School and Greenfield Parks and Recreation Before School and School’s Out Program

Students attending Elementary Summer School (grades K5-6) are invited to participate in the Before School Program from 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m. and/or the School’s Out Program in the afternoon from 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Both programs will be located at Maple Grove Elementary School and are offered through Greenfield Parks and Recreation for an additional fee. Students enrolled in Greenfield Parks and Recreation School’s Out Program will participate in the free Summer Meals for Kids Program and will eat lunch in the Maple Grove Elementary School cafeteria.

 

Summer Meals for Kids and Teens  

Free lunch is available to all children in the community 18 years or younger at Maple Grove Elementary School from June 26th to July 28th (no meal service on weekends or holidays). The meal program is open to the public from 11:30-12:00. Adult price is $3.50. If you have questions regarding this program, please call Greenfield Food Service at 414-281-3357.

 

Parents with students enrolled in Summer School who are not attending the School’s Out Program are welcome to participate in the Summer Meal Program along with their children

7th and 8th Grade Program located at Greenfield High School                                                          8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

This sessions below are open to Greenfield residents and current Open Enrollment students registered to attend grades 7 and 8 in the fall of 2017. Students may attend summer school for Period 1 (8:00-10:00), Period 2 (10:00-12:00) or both Periods (8:00-12:00).

 

Math Applications

No matter what your current skill levels in math, engaging in math applications is a great way to enhance of your math skills. High-quality learning experiences help develop important math habits of mind and skills such as number sense and number concepts, visual-spatial skills, logic skills, perseverance in problem solving, basic facts, operations with integers, and more. In this session we will identify individual student needs and form flexible daily small groups for targeted instruction and practice. By participating in both math learning experiences and targeted small group instruction, students will be better prepared for the important 7th and 8th grade math concepts, all while having fun and developing their social skills.

 

Period 1: 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.

Period 2: 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. 

 

Tomorrow’s Engineers

Students will tackle real-world engineering problems utilizing the Engineering Design Process along with creativity and collaboration. In this session students will research and experiment to solve an engineering problem presented to them. This is a cross-curricular course and will include study in the area of science, social studies, literacy, engineering, and computers. Each week will focus on a different topic and include hands-on experiences.

 

Period 1: 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.

Period 2: 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. 


Drama and Literacy

This session will integrate active literacy skills with multiple forms of drama. In this session we will explore various types of written and oral communication. Students will engage participate in drama by acting out others’ works, and creating and performing their own pieces.

 

Period 1: Not Available (students may choose Tomorrow’s Engineers or Math Applications for this Period)

Period 2: 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Student placement for summer school is based on your child’s grade level for the 2017-18 school year.

The School District of Greenfield Summer Learning Program is available at no charge to Greenfield resident, Chapter 220 and current Open Enrollment students registered to attend the School District of Greenfield in the fall of 2017.

Transportation is available for resident students attending Middle School Summer School (grades 7-8). The fee for two-way transportation to and from Greenfield High School is $89.25 and is available for students attending both Periods (8:00-12:00). Checks for transportation should be made out to First Student and all bussing questions should be directed to First Student (414-422-2020). Transportation is not available for students attending Elementary Summer School (grades K5-6).
